Rosenheck

Location and Classification

Rosenheck is a named single vineyard in Niederhausen in the wine region Nahe. The vineyard lies between Niederhausen and Norheim and covers around 17 hectares. Rosenheck is one of the twelve named single vineyards of the municipality, which were defined in 1970.

Relief and Geology

The location is described as a steep hillside facing south-west. Its subsoil consists of massive slate, which is assigned to the Rhenish Slate Mountains in a technical data sheet.

Climate and Grape Varieties

The vineyards of Niederhausen are characterised by steep, rocky slopes, strong sunshine and a pronounced heat-island effect. At Rosenheck, Riesling and Spätburgunder have been documented.

Wine Styles

Dry, piquant Rieslings are documented, as well as finely dry Rieslings and Kabinett Rieslings, along with noble-sweet Auslese wines. A documented Rosenheck Riesling was harvested by hand on 4 October 2022 at 86 degrees Oechsle, processed as a dry Riesling made from 100% Riesling, and bottled with a screw cap.
