Location and Topography
The Rechbächel is located in Wachenheim in the wine-growing region Pfalz. The area classified by the VDP covers 3.20 hectares. It faces from north to south, lies at an elevation of 135 to 150 metres above sea level and has a slope gradient of 8.6 per cent.
Soil
The VDP describes the soil as lightly loamy sand. The 3.12-hectare Rechbächel parcel owned by Dr. Bürklin-Wolf contains red and yellow sandstone gravel. From around 1.80 metres deep onwards, a 1.20-metre-thick layer of river pebbles begins.
Grape Variety and Classification
For the Wachenheimer Rechbächel, Riesling is classified. The site is ranked by the VDP as VDP.ERSTE LAGE®. Dr. Bürklin-Wolf manages its holding in the Rechbächel as a monopoly and produces a dry Riesling P.C. Monopol from it.
Cultivation and 2024 Vintage
For the 2024 vintage, Dr. Bürklin-Wolf documented a selective hand harvest in September in small crates and an average yield of 45 hectolitres per hectare. After the harvest, the grapes were gently pressed as whole bunches.
