Pfingstweide

Location and classification

Pfingstweide is a registered single-vineyard site in Niederhausen in the wine-growing region Nahe. In the vineyard register it is listed under the site code 511128. The land is in the sole ownership of a wine-growing business.

History

The municipality of Niederhausen classifies Pfingstweide among the twelve single-vineyard sites that were established in 1970. Originally, the area formed part of the Nahe riverbed. After the river was diverted during the construction of the railway in 1856, it was filled with earth from the new riverbed and stones from tunnel construction.

Site conditions

The northward-protected ridge, Felsen Steyer, warms the site by reflecting the sun’s heat. The nearby riverbed, according to the information, provides a balanced supply of water.

Wine and ownership

Pfingstweide is documented as the estate’s monopole site, Paul Anheuser. For bottling from the site, Riesling is listed as the grape variety. The white Riesling is described as fresh and fruity, as well as harmonious and lightly fresh.
