Location and classification
Luginsland is a single vineyard site in Wachenheim an der Weinstraße in the Pfalz. The vineyard lies between Wachenheim and Forst below the Deutsche Weinstraße. The 2024 vineyard directory lists Luginsland in the Wachenheim cadastral area as vineyard number 821607 within the Großlage Schnepfenflug an der Weinstraße.
Area and site
The site comprises 21.1 hectares of planted vineyard land in the Wachenheim cadastral area. The small vineyard lies on a slope facing south and is considered particularly warm and early-ripening. The soils are described as sandy; decomposed red sandstone (Buntsandstein), red sandstone scree (Buntsandsteingeröll), loamy sand, gravel and clayey terrace gravel shape the soil profile.
Grape variety and wine
Riesling is the classified grape variety of the site. The VDP lists Wachenheimer Luginsland as VDP.ERSTE LAGE® with 12.19 hectares of classified area. A documented vintage 2024 is a dry Riesling as a Qualitätswein from designated regions with 0.6 grams of residual sugar and 5.1 grams of total acidity. The wine is described with notes of sage, thyme and lime, as well as a fine, mineral character.
