Wiebelsheim is a district of Bad Windsheim in the district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim in Middle Franconia, Bavaria. The place lies to the west of Bad Windsheim and belongs to the region Franconia.
History
According to the town of Bad Windsheim, Wiebelsheim was established during the Franconian period of settlement in the 6th century and was first mentioned in 850 in a document of the Lorsch monastery. The church has been documented since 1342; by 1528 the Reformation had reached the village. In a major fire on 31 July 1757, 31 buildings were destroyed.
Vineyard sites
Wiebelsheim plots are assigned to the single-vineyard Rosenberg in the large site Ipsheimer Burgberg, as well as to the single-vineyard Altenberg in the large site Frankenberger Schloßstück.
Winegrowing
The Bad Windsheim Rosenberg is characterised by gypsum marl and limestone, which are associated with a mineral character of the wines from the site. In Wiebelsheim, Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, Bacchus and Dornfelder are grown there. The grape harvest is carried out by hand; in the winery, the grapes are destemmed, pressed with a spindle press and stored in stainless steel tanks. Bottle storage takes place at 8 to 12 °C.
