Location and History
Steinweiler is a municipality in the wine-growing region Pfalz. The place was first documented in 968 under the name “Steinwilare”; the name “Steinweiler” has been documented since 1585.
Vine Growing on Rosenberg
The single vineyard Rosenberg comprises within the Steinweiler cadastral area, according to the 2024 vineyard register, a planted area of 7.6 hectares. For a local anniversary wine, Grauburgunder was grown there. As part of the project, winemakers and helpers carried out vine pruning and tying-in; the next step of work was planned to be the breaking out of shoots.
Anniversary Wine and Protected Designation of Origin
The grapes from the documented parcel on Rosenberg were processed into an anniversary wine, from which 1,050 bottles were filled. Steinweiler, together with the cadastral unit 5673, is included in the delimited geographical area for wines with the protected designation of origin Pfalz. Wines bearing the protected name Pfalz must comply with the applicable rules for Qualitätswein; Qualitätsweine and wines with traditional terms require an official inspection and an official inspection number on the label.
