Location and affiliation
Neusetz is a district of Dettelbach in the Kitzingen district in Lower Franconia, Bavaria. The place is located in the northernmost part of the Dettelbach municipal area in the wine region Franconia.
Historical development
In the 15th century, Neusetz came under the rule of the Prince-Bishops of Würzburg. After secularisation, the town became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria and was incorporated into the town of Dettelbach on 1 May 1978.
Vineyard sites
The vineyard areas in the district of Neusetz belong to the wine site Fürstenberg and not to an independent wine site Neusetz. The official classification of wine sites lists Neusetz, under the municipality of Dettelbach, as part of the Fürstenberg site in the Großlage of Kirchberg and in the area of the Volkacher Mainschleife. Escherndorfer Fürstenberg is documented as a slope site oriented towards the east.
Designation of origin
For wines from the inter-municipal site Escherndorfer Fürstenberg, the place name must be stated together with the site name. The further Middle Main valley between Volkach and Dettelbach is characterised by dry slopes and a mild climate, which favour the long-established viticulture in the surrounding area.
